The Cincinnati Reds were looking to go 5-0 today and clinch the series vs. The Astros. The Reds came back to win, 12-4. Here's what happened......
The Astros led 4-0, all 4 runs were off Edinson Volquez who pitched over 45 pitches that inning, but after that, the Reds would just dominate.
The Reds got one run in the 2nd to cut the Astros lead to 3 with a Paul Janish single to plate Jay Bruce.
Reds had a 5 run 3rd inning, starting off with a Scott Rolen Double to score Brandon Phillips and Joey Votto. Chris Heisey would then get on base on an error on a terrible throw by pitcher Nelson Figueroa scoring Scott Rolen.
Another run scored again on a bad throw by the Astros Catcher Towels to third base and Jay Bruce ran home to score and the Reds now led the game 5-4. The Reds capped a 5 run inning with a Paul Janish RBI Single to score Heisey.
The Reds scored 4 runs in the 6th, starting with a Drew Stubbs single to score Janish. Then, Brandon Phillips had a RBI Single to score Miguel Cairo. Joey Votto then hit just short of a home run to bounce off the wall, but then into the stands for a ground-rule double scroing Speedy Stubbs.
The Reds added one more in the 6th, with a RBI Fielder choice by Rolen to score Phillips.
The Reds got another 2 runs in the 8th starting with a Edgar Renteria RBI Single and ending with a Error by the Astros SS to score Joey Votto.
So, thats it. The Reds win 12-4. Tomorrow, will be an early game at 9:35 AM PT Brett Myers for the Stros and Sam LeCure for the Reds.
