The #14 Oregon State Beavers were facing the #5 Arizona State Sun Devils today in a ranked showdown. The Beavers were looking to defeat ASU, and they did, 5-3.
The Beavers were down early, and Sam Gaviglio looked like it would be another rough outing like last Friday vs. Arizona, he gave up 2 quick runs giving the Sun Devils a 2-0 lead.
ASU had a 2-0 lead until the 5th inning when Tyler Smith would single, but would be thrown out at 2nd, but then Ryan Dunn would score, ending the inning and the Beavers were still trailing, 2-1.
But, in the 7th, the Beavers had their great inning when they exploded with 4 runs, starting out with a Ryan Dunn double to score Jared Norris and Kavin Keyes to give the Beavers a 3-2 lead.
That wouldn't be all they did. Next, the Beavers Tyler Smith had another RBI his 2nd of the game, with a single to score Ryan Dunn.
Ryan Barnes later drove in a run scoring Tyler Smith. The Beavers now led 5-2, heading into the 8th inning.
ASU got a run in the 8th off Starter Sam Gaviglio, and Gaviglio was not about to just go 8 innings, he went all 9.
Sam Gaviglio had a 1-2-3 9th inning to help the Beavers beat the #5 Arizona State Sun Devils. The Beavers will face them again tomorrow, be sure to watch on ROOT Sports. It used to be FSN, but I am not sure why they changed it. The Beavers are now 22-7 and 3-1 in the Pac-10.
