Beavers Blow Out Stanford, Clinch Series Win.

By HD.

Kavin Keyes and Tyler Smith both tallied three hits and Josh Osich allowed one run in six innings as the No. 9 Oregon State baseball team downed No. 17 Stanford, 8-1, in front of 2,031 fans Saturday afternoon at Sunken Diamond.

"Josh threw very well and Kavin and Tyler really sparked the offense," Oregon State head coach Pat Casey said. "Overall, it was a very good day and I'm very proud of the way this team has played through adversity of late. We will go back to the hotel and get ready for a big game Sunday against the Cardinal."

The win pushed the Beavers to an eight-game win streak, the second longest of the season, and also put OSU at a Pac-10 leading 7-1 in league play. That is the best mark through eight league games for the Beavers since the Pac-10 unified in 1999.

Overall, Oregon State is 26-7 this season and will be looking for a sweep Sunday, which would mark the Beavers' first ever at Stanford. OSU already has the series victory, and has now won each of its last four trips to Stanford dating back to 2005.

On Saturday, the Beavers got on the board early, scoring two in the first. Keyes singled home a run, and the Beavers added a run on the play on a Stanford error.

Keyes made it a 2-for-2 day when he doubled home a run in the third, giving OSU a 3-0 lead.

An inning later, the Beavers broke the game open with a three-run frame. Parker Berberet tripled and scored when Ryan Dunn doubled down the left field line. Dunn scored two batters later on a wild pitch and Jared Norris capped off the inning with a run-scoring single to give OSU the six-run advantage.

Keyes ended the game with a 3-for-3 effort, walking twice and driving in two.

Smith singled in the sixth, doubled in the eighth and drove home the Beavers' final run of the game in the ninth with another single. He finished the day 3-for-4.

All told, the Beavers posted 12 hits off four Stanford pitchers. Michael Miller also had two hits in the win.

Oregon State and Stanford conclude their three-game series Sunday at Sunken Diamond. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. PT.
