So, the Portland Trail Blazers are tied for 5th in the West and 2nd in the Northwest. See why, just 2 guys have helped them this year to get were they are right now.
The 2 guys are named Wesley Matthews and Patty Mills. Wesley Matthews, a 2nd year guy out of Marquette, has just been the best pickup of the year in the whole NBA.
Brandon Roy has been hurt almost all year long, so we needed a a Good shooting SG. We could have turned to Rudy Fernandez, but last summer, the Blazers picked up Wesley Matthews as a FA after being released by the Jazz.
He already has some playoff expirence from last year with the Jazz making it to the 2nd round of the playoffs and got sweept by the Lakers. Matthews is averaging 16.2 PPG which is a great PPG for a SG this season.
Now Patty Mills has been a Key to the Blazers bench. I Love when the Blazers bench goes crazy even if the Blazers make a little easy shot or good play, espically Patty Mills come on the court when the Blazers call a time out to give all the Blazers high fives even if the Trail Blazers are down by 20.
Not just his team work on the bench, even on the court. Mills is averaging only 5.9 PPG, but when the Blazers need him in tight situations, he is there.
And also off the court, Patty Mills is raising so much money for his home country, Austraila raising lots of money helping the poor people there who are suffering bad floods.
So these are 2 guys that help the Blazers this season a lot.
