Reds destroy Padres, Harang.

By HD.

Ryan Hanigan, Juan Francisco and Chris Heisey each hit home runs on Wednesday as the Reds defeated the Padres, 15-5, at Peoria Stadium.

The Reds ruined Aaron Harang's first start against his former team, as they scored five runs in the second inning. The Reds later added six runs in the sixth inning.

Chris Denorfia and Jorge Cantu each had RBI doubles for the Padres.

Harang, who pitched parts of eight seasons for the Reds, allowed seven runs on seven hits in three innings, including home runs to Hanigan and Heisey.

Cincinnati starting pitcher Chad Reineke, a former Padres arm, tossed two shutout innings with one walk and one strikeout.

Dave Sappelt continued his hot spring for the Reds with a two-run double. He's hitting .500.

"We hit well, played well, pitched well," Reds manager Dusty Baker said. "We played a heck of a defense, especially when those young boys got in there. They were all over."

San Diego pitcher Casey Kelly, acquired from the Red Sox in the Adrian Gonzalez deal in December, tossed two scoreless innings. He hasn't been scored upon this spring.

Next up for the Reds will be the Giants tommrow at 12:05 PT.
