By Hunter Hendrickson The Cincinnati Reds will announce the signing of shortstop Edgar Renteria to a one-year contract Thursday afternoon, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.The deal could be worth as much as $3 million with an incentive package. Renteria was the 2010 World Series MVP for the San Fransisco Giants.
Well, This pick-up means Orlando Cabrera will not likley return to this team after a Great 2010 season. Paul Janish was chosen after the 2010 season to probley be the 2011 Cincinnati Reds shortstop, but that deal is all over. Reds fans were hoping to see him do something great. Including me.
Edgar hit .276, had 3 Home Runs, 22 RBIs, and a OBP of 332. in 2010.
