How the Raiders did at the Pro Bowl.

By Hunter Hendrickson

The 2011 Pro Bowl did not go very well for the AFC, nor did the Oakland Raiders players. The NFC won, 55-41 with as much a 42-0 lead right before the half.

However, the Raiders players did not do very well, Oakland TE Zach Miller, Had 0 Catches for 0 yards, but Punter Shane Lechler, had 1 Punt for 38 yards.

The NFC pulled out a Lopsised Pro-bowl Win. I guess the Other team in the super Bowl Confrence that loses in the pro-bowl always wins the Title. Well anyways DeAngelo Hall won the MVP for the NFC.

Volquez, Reds agree to One-year deal.

By Hunter Hendrickson

A signed deal has yet to be formally announced with Reds pitcher Edinson Volquez, but the two sides have come to terms on a one-year deal.

ESPN Deportes reported Saturday that the deal would likely be for $1.6 million to avoid arbitration. Reds general manager Walt Jocketty had originally hoped to sign Volquez to a multiyear contract -- like he had with several others this winter -- but he wasn't disappointed.

"We'll see if they're up for doing more later," Jocketty said Sunday from a Reds Caravan stop in Lexington. "We tried to do a multiyear deal. They just wanted to concentrate on the one year now. [Volquez's agent] had a few cases and wanted to get the arbitration thing out of the way."

Volquez returned from Tommy John surgery after the All-Star break in 2010 and went 4-3 with a 4.31 ERA in 62 2/3 innings. The 26-year-old was also charged with four runs on four hits and was pulled after 1 2/3 innings in Game 1 of the National League Division Series against the Phillies.

The season also included a 50-game suspension when Volquez violated Major League Baseball's performance-enhancing drug policy. He served the suspension while he was rehabilitating on the disabled list but still lost $120,000 in salary.

Now the Reds got back 2 starters from last year, Johnny Cueto and now Edison Volquez.

Former Oregon state Football Players feeling "Super".

By Hunter Hendrickson

The Oregon
State football program will be well-represented in Super Bowl XLV, Sun., Feb. 6 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Cornerback Keenan Lewis, a four-year letterman for head coa

ch Mike Riley from 2005-08, will represent the Beavers with the

Pittsburgh Steelers. Lewis is a second-year player for the Steelers after being drafted by the AFC champions in the third round of the 2009 NFL Draft. The native of New Orleans started the third-most games in OSU history with 47 and earned Pac-10 Conference Honorable Mention as a senior. Mainly a special teams player for Pittsburgh this season, Lewis was a Pac-10 Conference All-Academic selection three times.

Lewis isn't the only Steeler with strong Beaver connections. Athletic trainer Ariko Iso, a 1993 graduate of OSU, was hired by Pittsburgh in 2002 making her the only full-time female athletic trainer in the NFL (as of the start of the 2010 season).

Former Beaver linebacker Nick Barnett is an eight-year veteran for the Green Bay Packers, after a stellar four-year OSU career (1999-2002). The NFL All-Pro player has been sidelined since suffering a wrist injury in week four of the season that prompted the Packers to put him on the injured reserve. Barnett was a 2002 Pac-10 First Team honoree.

The game starts at 3:00 PM PT 6:00 ET and the game can be seen of FOX

What the Game means today.

Oregon state vs. Stanford.

This game will mean slot for Oregon state, who has the worst record in the pac-10 Overall at 8-11 after a 25 point loss to California. However, Oregon state will have some Confidence today at Standford, because the Oregon Ducks, who had the worst record in the Pac-10 games beat Stanford on Thursday.

Stanford doesnt lose much but they havent looked good after their 78-76 win over #17 Washington Huskies.

I say the Beavers will win this game 68-63. The Beavers lost to Oregon then did not do good, Stanford lost to Oregon on thursday, and Possibly, wont do good today.

Reds finalize deal with Cueto.

By Hunter Hendrickson

The Reds' busy winter continued as they finalized a four-year, $27 million contract to avoid arbitration with starting pitcher Johnny Cueto on Wednesday after the right-hander passed his physical.

The deal, according to The Associated Press, will pay the 24-year-old Cueto $3.4 million in 2011, $5.4 million in 2012, $7.4 million in 2013 and $10 million in 2014. There is a $10 million club option for 2015 that carries an $800,000 buyout.

Cueto, who hails from the Dominican Republic, made $445,000 in 2010 and was already enjoying the benefits of the big salary increase.

"I'm the only one that takes care of my entire extended family, so they're very happy and I'm happy to be able to provide for them," Cueto said through an interpreter during a press conference at Great American Ball Park. "The first thing I will do is take more of them to America with me, to Cincinnati and Goodyear [Ariz.]."

Cueto was to be arbitration-eligible for the first time, which means the contract covers all three of his arbitration years and at least one year of free-agent eligibility.

In arbitration numbers exchanged last week, Cueto was seeking $3.9 million for the 2011 season, while the club countered with a $3 million offer.

"We try to identify the guys we think are, No. 1, deserving of this, but also guys that we think with this reward will continue to work hard and strive to be as good as they can be," Reds general manager Walt Jocketty said. "We definitely feel that Johnny is that type of player."

Cueto was 12-7 with a 3.64 ERA in 31 starts last season, while he established career bests in wins, ERA, innings pitched (185 2/3) and walks allowed (56). He is 32-32 with a 4.27 ERA in 92 starts over his three big league seasons.

Raiders TE Zach Miller Added to Pro-Bowl Roster.

By Hunter Hendrickson

Oakland Raiders TE Zach Miller has been Added to the AFC squad for the 2011 Pro Bowl. The 2011 all-star game is set for Janurary 30 in Hawaii.

Miller Joins Nnamdi Asomugha, Richard Seymour and Shance Lechler.

“I’m excited and I can’t wait to get to Hawaii. It feels great, finally people are starting to notice,” Miller said. “I’m enjoying that and I’m excited about this opportunity. I just want to keep improving my game so I can go to the Pro Bowl every year.

The fourth-year player has led the Raiders in receiving in each of the last three seasons, totaling 60 receptions for 685 yards and a career-high five touchdowns during the 2010 campaign. His receptions total was the eighth-highest among NFL tight ends.

Miller moved into third place on the Raiders career receiving list for tight ends with 226 receptions over four seasons. His career totals also include 2,712 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns.

My Opinion is why is Zach Miller in the pro bowl and not RB Darren Mcfadden? Doesnt make any sense. and oh yeah Carson Palmer wants out of Cincy. Should we pick him up? No.....

Reds, Cueto agree on four-year extension.

By Hunter Hendrickson

The Reds were trying to work out a deal to avoid arbitration with right-hander Johnny Cueto. Turns out, they might have locked him up all the way through his first free-agent year.

Cueto and the Reds have reached agreement on a four-year $27 million contract extension, our sources say, The Reds did not confirm the report, which said the agreement is pending a physical examination, though the club did acknowledge that discussions about a multiyear deal with Cueto have taken place.

If the deal goes through, then Cueto would be the third arbitration-eligible player the Reds have locked in with a multiyear commitment this winter. Outfielder Jay Bruce signed a six-year, $51 million deal last month, and reigning MVP Joey Votto signed a three-year, $38 million contract earlier this week.

The 24-year-old Cueto, a native of the Dominican, went 12-7 after being 12-3, with a ERA of 3.64 and pitched in the final game of the year in the 2-0 loss to the Phildelphia Philles in the Playoffs. His wins total, ERA, innings pitched (185 2/3) and walks allowed (56) were all career-bests.

Earlier this week, when arbitration figures were exchanged, Cueto had asked for $3.9 million for the 2011 season, with the Reds countering with a $3 million offer.

Trail Blazers Center Marcus Camby to Undergo surgery.

By Hunter Hendrickson

Another Injury, and this time, another starter. Marcus Camby, will undergo arthroscopic surgery later this week to repair a partial medial meniscus tear in his left knee.it was announced today by General Manager Rich Cho.

The Portland Trail Blazers already have 2 starters injured, Greg Oden and All-star Brandon Roy.

“The MRI taken earlier today did not show anything significant,” said Cho. “However, a more thorough review tonight from our team physician did reveal a partial tear.”

The exact date for Camby’s arthroscopy has yet to be determined. A timeline for his return will be set following surgery.

In 39 games (all starts) this season, Camby has averaged 5.9 points, 11.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.87 blocks in 28.7 minutes. He ranks fifth in the NBA in rebounds and 10th in blocked shots per game.

And God Forbid LaMarcus Aldridge gets hurt. Without him, the Blazers will finish with No Playoffs and No winning Record. The question now is, Can the Blazers make the Playoffs with all these injuries?

Oh and Camby is the only player in the Western Conference averaging at least 11.0 rebounds and 1.50 blocks. He has grabbed at least 10 boards in 26 games and led the team in rebounding a team-high 28 times this season.

So the starting Lineup Looks like this now
PG: Andre Miller.
SG: Wesley Matthews.
SF: Nicolas Batum
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge
C: Joel Przbilla or maybe Dante Cunningham.

Well, Depends. Can we continue to win games and make the playoffs?

Reds Ink Bray, But Volquez and Cueto Unsigned.

By Hunter Hendrickson

The Cincinnati Reds have Re-signed Left handed Reiliver Bill Bray today. The deal is worth One year/$645,000.

There are now 37 arbitration-eligible players in the league who are yet to work out a deal with their clubs, two of them happen to be Dominican pitchers, one's name is Edinson Volquez, the other's is Johnny Cueto. Volquez is asking for $2 Million, But the Reds are offering him 1.3 ML.

As far as where things stand with Volquez and Cueto, both of whom made $445,000 last season, the respective sides aren't worlds apart in their salary expectations, but they have yet to find that common ground.

Cueto is asking for $3.9 million, with the Reds countering with $3 million, according to the AP. Last season, Cueto was 12-7 with a 3.64 ERA in 31 starts and 185 2/3 innings in 2010. He is 32-32 with a 4.27 ERA over his three seasons with the Reds..

Those two guys are very important to the Queen City. When More news comes, Just visit here, www.omocsports.blogspot.com for more.

Raiders Promote Hue Jackson to Head Coach.

By Hunter Hendrickson

The Oakland Raiders promoted offensive coordinator Hue Jackson to head coach on Monday after he helped the team more than double its scoring output in his first year with the franchise.

Jackson will be formally introduced at a news conference Tuesday -- two weeks after the Raiders announced they were not picking up an option to keep coach Tom Cable.

"The fire in Hue will set a flame that will burn for a long time in the hearts and minds of the Raider football team and the Raider Nation," owner Al Davis said in a statement.

Jackson was widely considered the leading contender to get the job as soon as the Raiders announced Cable's departure. This is Jackson's first head coaching job at any level.

Jackson was hired a year ago to take over the play-calling duties from Cable and oversaw a transformation on offense. Oakland scored more than twice as many points in 2010 as it did in '09 -- and the Raiders won eight games and avoid an eighth straight losing season.

"I'm excited about Hue getting the head coaching job," Raiders tight end Zach Miller said in a phone interview. "I really like the direction our offense is going and how much we improved. This was the best offensive year we've had since I've been a Raider. I'm excited to have the continuity."

Jackson was popular with players on both sides of the ball in Oakland, with the defenders enjoying the competitive nature he brought to practice each day. Linebacker Quentin Groves wrote on his Twitter feed, "Congrats to Hue Jackson ... This is gonna be a great ride!!!"

Led by quarterback Jason Campbell, a breakout season from running back Darren Mcfadden and big plays from rookie receiver Jacoby Ford, the Raiders finished sixth in the league in scoring with 410 points.

Lets see how Jackson will due at head coach after a Great 2010 season. Comment Below what you think he will do to this team.

He led the NL in slugging percentage (.600), topped the major leagues in on-base percentage (.424) and had 16 stolen bases in 21 chances.

Beavers pull out Much needed Win over USC.

By Hunter Hendrickson

2007. That was the last time USC has beat Oregon State at Gill Colisium in Corvallis Oregon. The same year we had 0 Pac-10 wins. The President was George W Bush, gas was about 2.80 a gallon, and the #1 hit song was, "Hey there Delilah." by the Plain white T's. Now, In 2011, The President is Barack Obama, gas is still 2.80$ and The #1 song is Only Girl, by Rihanna. Anyways, Oregon state trying to keep there Pac-10 hopes alive vs. the USC Trojans. They were able to do that 80-76. Heres what happened.....

A HUGE reason why Oregon state (8-9,3-3 in Pac-10) won this was because Jared Cunningham Efforts, he had 24 points and some clutch baskets in the Last Mintues to earn MVP on the game.

For the Trojans, (10-8, 2-3 in Pac-10), Nikola Vucevic had 26 points and 14 rebounds for a Double-Double. Jio Fontan had 14 points and 6 assist.

Besides Jared Cunningham, The Beavers had 3 other men in Double figures, The 2 seinors, Lathen Wallace had 12 points and Calvin Haynes had 11. Omari Johnson had a Double Double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The Beavers had a 16 point lead at half but blew it and Joe Burton had a Perfect Back door-No look pass to Cunningham for a Lay in. Seconds Later, Calvin Haynes stole the ball and layed it in for a 71-62 lead. The Beavers never trailed again. I was at the game, and When Calvin Haynes stole the ball away for a Lay in, it was at least louder than Autzen Stadium.

So, Oregon state goes to 8-9 and a even 3-3 in the Pac-10. Next, The Beavs will play at home vs. the Oregon Ducks. The Civil war!

No Longer an Opinion, Blazers suck.

By Hunter Hendrickson

The Blazers started in the week 4 games up in the 8th spot in the west.

We Started the week Vs. the Bum-3 Lebron James, Dwayne wade and Chris Bosh. We lost this game 107-100 in OT. We had a 10 point lead in the 4th quarter and let The BUM LeBron James tear us up.

The Next game we lost to The Amare Stoudamire Knicks 100-86 and a game that we sucked on D and Sucked on Offense. Great Performance.NOT!

We lost last night to the Phoenix suns and another 4th quarter Break down 115-111.

And I guess all that is left now is to Vote for LaMarcus Aldridge for the the 2011 All-star game. LaMarcus desrves it. Losing Brandon Roy to an injury, we needed somebody to step up. Guess who it was? LaMarcus Aldridge.

The Blazers are now .500 at 20-20. Are we done? Can we keep the 8th spot in the west?

Brandon Roy to have Surgey on Both Knees.

By Hunter Hendrickson

Portland Trail Blazers All-star Guard, Brandon Roy will have Arthroscopic surgery on both of his Knees next week.

The Team says there is no Timetable on the All-star Guards Return.

Roy has missed 16 games this season because of soreness in his knees, which he has said is caused by a lack of cartilage.

Roy is averaging 16.6 points in 23 games this season. For his career, the three-time All-Star and 2007 NBA Rookie of the Year is averaging 19.9 points and 4.9 assists.

Roy's decision to have surgery was first reported by the Portland Tribune newspaper on its website. It will be performed next week by Dr. Don Roberts.

"I'm trying to do the best thing I can to get back on the floor," Roy said in a statement Thursday. "We've been able to get a number of different opinions and it's something we've decided."

Last season, Roy had arthroscopic surgery to repair the meniscus in his right knee two days before the Blazers opened their first-round playoff series against Phoenix. He made a remarkable comeback and played in the fourth game of the series, which the Suns eventually won.

Blazers have been Fine without Him, and look like they might continue to do better without him.

Jacquizz Rodgers Declares for NFL Draft.

By Hunter Hendrickson

Oregon State University junior tailback Jacquizz Rodgers announced Monday that he will enter the 2011 NFL Draft.
"I've thought long and hard about this decision," Rodgers said. "I want to thank all of Beaver Nation for their support throughout my time here at Oregon State. Without all of that support I wouldn't be in this position."

No doubt that Jaquizz Helped Oregon state in the past 3 years. With his brother, James, going down with a injury this year, Jacquizz had to be the leader and he was. Despite No Blocking.

"We all at Oregon State wish Quizz the greatest success and look forward to watching his career continue in the NFL," head coach Mike Riley said from the American Football Coaches Association convention in Dallas, Texas. "He has certainly impacted both the football team and our lives at Oregon State. He has set a tremendous example as an Oregon State football player."

Rodgers, who is one of only three running backs in Pac-10 history to earn first team All-Pac-10 honors, and is sixth in conference history in rushing.

Rodgers' name is littered throughout the Oregon State record book. He finishes his career at Oregon State as the school's second all-time leading rusher with 3,877 yards, which also ranks sixth in Pac-10 Conference history. He is second with 46 rushing touchdowns and is tied for second with 19 games with 100-plus yards rushing. Rodgers is also the career leader in receptions by a running back with 151 and is third with 306 points scored in his career.

An ethnic studies major, Rodgers intends to return to Oregon State to finish his degree.

Rodgers has until 72 hours after the NFL's January 15 declaration deadline to withdraw his name.

The 2011 NFL Draft is scheduled for April 28-30 and will be televised by ESPN and the NFL Network.

And Jacquizz will of course have a Great NFL Career and I will most certainley watch him there.

Raiders Release Pro-Bowl CB Nnamdi Asomugha

By Hunter Hendrickson

Pro Bowl cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha's contract voided and he will be allowed to become a free agent without the Oakland Raiders being able to use their franchise tag on him, according to an NFL Players Association document.

Asomugha’s deal included a little-known clause that said his contract would void if he didn’t achieve his not-likely-to-be-earned incentives in 2010 -- and he didn'’t.

His contract also contained a stipulation that if he didn’t achieve his incentives, the Raiders would agree not to designate him their franchise or transition player.

To achieve his incentives, Asomugha had to play in a greater number of defensive plays in 2010 than he did in 2009, and this season Asomugha played in only 14 games whereas he played in all 16 in 2009.

He also could have achieved his incentives by improving upon on his interceptions, fumble recoveries or sacks this season -- but he didn't have any interceptions, fumble recoveries or sacks this season.

He will be the top defensive player available whenever free agency begins.

Reds to sign Edgar Renteria

By Hunter Hendrickson

The Cincinnati Reds will announce the signing of shortstop Edgar Renteria to a one-year contract Thursday afternoon, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. The deal could be worth as much as $3 million with an incentive package. Renteria was the 2010 World Series MVP for the San Fransisco Giants.

Well, This pick-up means Orlando Cabrera will not likley return to this team after a Great 2010 season. Paul Janish was chosen after the 2010 season to probley be the 2011 Cincinnati Reds shortstop, but that deal is all over. Reds fans were hoping to see him do something great. Including me.

Edgar hit .276, had 3 Home Runs, 22 RBIs, and a OBP of 332. in 2010.
