Osama Bin Laden Killed By U.S.

By HD.
I know OMOC Sports does not cover this sort of news, but this news is huge for america.
Osama bin Laden, hunted as the mastermind behind the worst-ever terrorist attack on U.S. soil, has been killed, President Obama announced tonight.Bin Laden was located at a compound in Pakistan, which was monitored and when the time was determined to be right, U.S. forces struck, the president said."A small team of Americans carried out the operation," Obama said. "After a firefight, they killed Osama bin Laden and took custody of his body."DNA testing confirmed that it was bin Laden, sources told ABC News.Sources said the attack was carried out by Joint Special Operations Command forces working with the CIA.Vice President Biden briefed Republican congressional leaders this evening on the operation, which had been kept secret until shortly before the president's announcement tonight."This is a terrific day for America and quite frankly the whole world that cares about winning the war on terror," former Bush chief of staff Andy Card told ABC News. Card said the news is "particularly significant" for the intelligence community."They're the ones who kept their nose to the grindstone and worked very hard to allow this day to be realized ... finally," he said. His death brings to an end a tumultuous life that saw bin Laden go from being the carefree son of a Saudi billionaire, to terrorist leader and the most wanted man in the world.Bin Laden created and funded the al Qaeda terror network, which was responsible for the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the United States. The Saudi exile had been a man on the run since the U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan overthrew the ruling Taliban regime, which harbored bin Laden.

John Buck snapped a tie with a seventh-inning homer, one of a season-high five hit by the Florida Marlins in a 9-5 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday.

Buck followed Greg Dobbs' leadoff single with his third home run of the season and second of the series, giving the Marlins the lead in a game in which all of Florida's runs came on homers. Buck, who finished with three hits, had a three-run shot in the first inning of Florida's 7-6 win on Friday.

Reds starter Bronson Arroyo allowed a season-high three home runs. Arroyo (3-3) gave up seven hits with two walks and three strikeouts in seven innings while falling to 1/3 in his last four starts.

Florida right-hander Ricky Nolasco (3-0) allowed three runs and six hits in seven innings to help the Marlins take two of three in the series.

Renteria Singles In 10th, Reds Win.

By HD.

The Cincinnati Reds last win was in Extra Innings in Milwaukee. Today, their last win, was in Extras also. The Reds won in 10 innings today, 4-3. Here's what happened.....

The Marlins had a 1-0 lead for 8 straight innings, until the 8th when Wes Helms hit a 2 run double. Now 3-0 Marlins.

The Reds got off to a quick start in the 8th, when Jonny Gomes singled to score Brandon Phillips.

Then, Miguel Cairo singled to score Phillips. Then Paul Janish did something huge.

Janish singled to score Cairo, and the Reds have tied the game at 3.

The Reds went into extras, and thats when the Reds got the bases loaded with no outs, then Hernandez grounded out, then Paul Janish popped out to first. Just when you think its over, it wasn't.

Edgar Renteria came up as a pinch hitter, and singled to left and Gomes scored, giving the Reds a 4-3 win.

The Reds are now 14-13 and will face the Marlins tomorrow.

Josh Osich Pitches No-Hitter As Beavers Drop UCLA.

By HD.

Josh Osich, missed all of last year for OSU. This year, has been, a MVP type season for him, and today, he proved, OSU Baseball, is the next big thing.

Josh Osich threw a No-Hitter for the Beavers, helping them pull out a 2-0 win and clinching the series today.

Osich went all 9 innings, gave up 0 hits, and walked 1, and also struck out 13.

Trevor Bauer, a possible and predicted overall #1 in this June's MLB Draft, pitched 9 innings and gave up just 4 hits.

The Beavers scored on a good at bat by Kavin Keyes to drilled it to left field for a double and scored 2 runs, and those were the only 2 runs scored.

Thats it. A no-hitter for Josh Osich, and the Beavers win their 32 game, now 32-8 and 12-2 in the Pac-10.

Raiders Draft Chimdi Chekwa in 4th Round.

By HD.

The Oakland Raiders 4th round pick is Chimdi Chekwa from Ohio State. Here are some stats.

This pick is in part for depth, but also a bit of insurance in case Nnadmi Asomugha decides to take his services elsewhere. The all-pro cornerback was declared a free agent after failing to meet some basic performance incentives because nobody threw his way all season long. According to Mocking the Draft:

Strengths: Is fine when he’s playing off man coverage and has an extra step to turn and run with receivers. Reads the ball pretty well in the to cut and break quickly. Is naturally long and knows how to use his length to his advantage. Likes to quickly jump in front of the receiver and bat the ball away. Has very good timed speed (4.38 seconds at the Combine), but doesn’t always play up to it. Has lined up on both sides of the field and in the nickel. Played gunner on special teams.

Weaknesses: Chekwa really struggled when Ohio State tried to use him in press coverage. He doesn’t have the body control or fluidity to turn and run with his receiver. Poor on his transitions. Was consistently beaten on the outside. Needs to get stronger or he’ll really get pushed around a lot in the NFL. Is a drag down tackler who will have trouble against power possession receivers. Lack of body control allows quick ball carriers to beat him in the open field.
