REDS CLINCH NL CENTRAL!

By: Cooper Ledford and Hunter Hendrickson

The Cincinnati Reds had a magic number of 1, they could clinch with a victory or a Cardinals loss to Pittsburgh. The only way the Reds could get a win is if they could do well against Houston's ace, Wandy Rodriguez. The Reds did not do well against him, but they did just enough to come away with a 3-2 victory over Houston, in dramatic fashion, which was not surprising that the Reds clinched in the way they did, here is how it all happened.

In the 1st inning, after 2 walks, then a double play, Stubbs was at 3rd with 2 outs and Scott Rolen at the plate. Scotty Rolen hit an RBI single, then would reach second thanks to a throwing error on 3rd baseman, Chris Johnson. 1-0 Reds on top.

The Astros would answer back in the 2nd, Jason Castro hit an RBI single to bring in Wallace, game tied at 1. Then, Wandy Rodriguez hit a sac/safety/suicide squeeze to plate Sanchez, 2-1 Astros.

Cincinnati had a great opportunity to blow the game open, with the bases loaded an no outs in the 6th. Jonny Gomes popped-up to the infield for the 1st out, but the next batter, Brandon Phillips hit an infield single to bring across Cabrera, 2-2 the score, next batter, Jay Bruce, grounded into a double play to end the inning.

In the bottom of the 8th, Drew Stubbs was at the plate with 2 outs, he crushed one to left field, just missing a home run by about a foot, but he would be left stranded at 2nd.

In the top of the 9th, the pitcher was Aroldis Chapman, he had a 1-2-3 inning, keeping the game tied at 2.

Jay Bruce was trying to make up for the double play that he grounded into in the 6th. He lead off the 9th inning. Guess what? VERY FIRST PITCH HE SEES, HE HITS HIGH, HE HITS IT WELL, HE HITS A...WALK-OFF HOME RUN TO GIVE THE REDS THEIR 1ST DIVISION TITLE IN 15 YEARS! 3-2 Reds win!

Congratulations to the Cincinnati Reds on clinching the National League Central Division.

Lets not forget about the pitching in this game, Edinson Volquez did great, 6 innings of 7 hit, 2 run baseball, but Aroldis Chapman will get the win.

See if the Reds can clinch the #2 seed in the NL. Watch the game on Wednesday at 7:10 PM ET on FS Ohio. Hey Yall a Quick Message from Hunter go On my youtube Page to C the WHOLE Celbration heres a Link!

Reds Crush Astros

By: Cooper Ledford and Hunter Hendrickson

The Reds were trying to even the series at a game apiece with the Astros, to do that, Bronson Arroyo would have to pitch a good game, as he was seeking win number 16, which would be a career high for the high-kicking righty. Bronson was able to get that win, as the Redlegs dominated the Houston Astros, 11-1. Here is how it all happened.

Houston got on the board first, in the 2nd, when Carlos Lee hit his 23rd homer of the year, 1-0 the score.

The Reds would tie it up in the 3rd when Orlando Cabrera hit an RBI single to plate Arroyo. Then, the Reds would take the lead 2 batters later, when Scott Rolen hit an RBI single to bring in Cabrera, 2-1 the score. Then, in the top of the 4th, Jim Edmonds hit a solo shot to left, his 10th of the season, 3-1 the score.

Edmonds would not be the only man on the team that went deep, Jay Bruce did in the 5th as he hit a 2-run home run, his 21st long ball of the year, 5-1. The Reds would get 2 more runs in that 5th inning. Ryan Hanigan hit an RBI single to score Edmonds, and Arroyo hit a sac fly to plate Stubbs. 7-1 the score.

Speaking of Drew Stubbs, in the 7th inning, guess what he did? He done hit a long en' over dat fence. His 19th of the year and the score was 8-1. In the 9th, the Reds got some more insurance, as Hanigan hit an RBI double to bring Bruce home, 9-1. Then, Yonder Alonso hit a 2 RBI single, 11-1 the score, and that is how it ended.

Bronson Arroyo is the winner as he went 6 innings, gave up 4 hits, 1 run, walked one, and fanned 5. Congratulations to Bronson on getting a career high 16th win!

Also, the Cardinals lost, so the Reds are back to 7 games up, and the magic number is now at 8.

Tomorrow the Reds will play in the rubber game, game time is set for 2:05 PM ET and will be televised on FS Ohio. Watch as Travis Wood (5-3, 3.46 ERA) and the Reds will take on Brett Myers (12-7, 2.85 ERA) and the 'Stros.
Oh Yeah, this blog post was posted late, sorry, The Reds lost today 4-3 with a late rally.

Beavers Defeat Cardinals,Defense sloppy

By Hunter Hendrikson

On Saturday, the Oregon state Beavers had a Good looking Ofense, but a very Sloppy Defense.

Otherwise, The Louisville Cardinals got the ball first, they got to the goal line. They were gonna pass on 2nd and goal but Adam Froman coulndt find anybody open, so he ran. He was a step away from the TD, But he Fumbled.

The Beavers offense was bad at 1st, but with 00:39 left in the 1st, Ryan Katz threw a TD pass to Joe Halahuni. The Beavers were up 7-0.

Later in the 2nd, Adam Froman lead the Cardinals to the redzone again. It was anthor pass play, but Froman kept it and ran 17 Yards for the Touchdown.

But the next possion for the Beavs was scoring. Jaquizz Roders ran 13 yards for a TD. That was when there was 08:41 left in the Half. Louisville scored.

Later, Bilal Powell ran 11 yards for a TD. The score was ow tied at 14. Beavers D was sucking this whole TIME!!!!!

But, just when the half was about to end, Jaquizz Rodgers ran his 2 TD of the half to put the Beavers up 21-14 at Halftime. Mike Riley had a Talk with his team right before halftime ended, He sayed, "our D Better step UP!!!!We are playing a team WORSE then Washington St.!!!!!"

The Beavers Offense played well, there Defense, still bad. The Beavers took a 2 Touchdown lead with a 4 yard pass from Katz to Quizz. That would be Quizzes 3 TD of the day. Beavers would take a 3 TD lead with a reverse Play to Marcus Wheaton who scored.A 28 Yard run.

The Cardinals scored again though with a Adam Froman 5 YD TD run. 35-21. The Cardinals scored again with a TD pass from Froman to Camron Graham.
Louisville got the Ball back with 1:33 Left in the game. They Drove it down to the Oregon state 49 Yard line. With 33 Seconds left in the game.....Adam froman Threw one deep And James Dockery picked it off.

Beavers win!35-28

Reds Drop 1st game in Houston

By: Cooper Ledford

The 1st place Cincinnati Reds were in Texas taking on the 3rd place Astros. The Reds were trying to lower their magic number, which was at 10. But, instead Houston beat the Reds 5-3 despite Johnny Cueto pitching a solid game. Here is how it all happened.

The 'Stros got on the board first, in the 1st inning when Chris Johnson (not the running back for the Titans) hit a sac fly to bring in Sanchez, 1-0 Astros on top. Make it 2-0 after a 2nd inning RBI single from Michael Bourn, that would plate the pitcher, Wandy Rodriguez.

The Reds had the bases loaded with 1 out in the 3rd, but got no runs. That is something the Reds MUST improve on, capitalizing on opportunities. If and when they make the playoffs, the Reds will do squat if they cannot bring runners in when they have an opportunity.

But, the Reds did take advantage of an opportunity in the 6th. Rodriguez had a no-no going, until a double by Votto, then a walk to Rolen, and that would bring up Jonny Gomes with no outs, he homered to left, 17th long ball of the year, and the Reds had a 3-2 lead. But, it would not last long at all.

In the home half of the 6th, Carlos Lee hit his 22nd touch-'em-all hit, and the game was tied at 3. Houston would then take the lead in the 7th when Sanchez hit a 2 RBI single off of Chapman, 5-3 the score, and the final score. The Reds are now 83-64, the Cardinals won, so they are 6 games up, the Reds are, and the magic number remains at 10.

Watch tomorrow as the Reds will try and even the series, as Bronson Arroyo (15-10, 4.05 ERA) and the Redlegs will battle Nelson Figueroa (3-1, 3.27 ERA) and the Astros. Game time is set for 7:05 PM ET and will be televised on Fox Sports Ohio.

Votto Hits first Career Walk-off Homer,Reds Beat Pirates

Edinson Volquez was on the hill for Cincinnati, as he was replacing Aaron Harang in the starting rotation. Edinson pitched a great game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, but his bullpen (Nick Masset) did not let him get the win. Joey Votto was the star of the night, as he hit what I said in the title, giving the Reds a 5-4 in in 10 innings in George Grande's return to the booth on FS Ohio. Here is how it all happened.

In the bottom of the 2nd, Drew Stubbs hit a sac fly to bring in Scott Rolen, 1-0 Redlegs on top. Then, in the 7th inning, Ramon Hernandez would hit a sac fly to bring in Rolen, 2-0 Reds. Same inning, Miguel Cairo, who started in right field, hit a sac fly to bring in Gomes. So 3 sac flies in this game.

The Pirates would get on the board in the 8th, when Bowker hit an RBI double, that would plate Cedeno, 3-1 the score. Then, same inning, Jose Tabata hit an RBI single, Bowker would score, and just like that it was a 1-run-ballgame. Aroldis Chapman would then come in, and he gave up an un-earned jun when Neil Walker hit an RBI single to bring in McCutchen and Tabata, and the Buccos had a 4-3 lead.

In the 9th inning, with Drew Stubbs on 1st, Chris Heisey was the batter, he hit a double down the left field line, just fair, Stubbs scored, and the game was tied at 4.

In the 10th inning, the Pirates went in order, and then it was the Reds turn to bat. Joey Votto lead off the inning, 2-1 was the count. He hit it far. He hit it high. He hit it GOOONNNNEEEEE! Reds win in 10 innings. Second strait walk-off win, and second strait extra inning win. This was the first walk-off hit for Joseph Daniel Votto in his big league career.

Edinson Volquez did great, going 7 innings, giving up 1 hit, walking 1 and had 10 strikeouts, amazing performance.

The Cardinals lost to the Braves today, so the Reds take advantage and are 7 games up on the Cardinals, their record is 81-61. This means that the Reds have a guaranteed winning record does that sound good or what?

Tomorrow, the Reds will look for the sweep, game time is set for 1:10 PM ET and will be televised on FS Ohio.

This game may be important to the playoffs, but compared to other things, it is nothing. On this date, 9/11/01, we will never forget what happened. Let's always remember what happened.
